Mission Statement
Dear Parents,
Can one ever say enough about the value of education? Judaism has always taught and stressed the importance of study.
Through our Hebrew School we will try to instill within our youngsters a love for Judaism, the Torah and the Jewish people, a thirst for more knowledge, a feeling for their rich heritage, a sense of ability and a positive picture of themselves as Jews.
We consider the multi-sensory approach the most appropriate, for every child receives in their own unique way. We consider every student capable of reaping the full benefit of what we have to teach. Recent studies, conducted in the U.S.A. and Great Britain on why some schools succeed, have shown that high expectations on the part of the teachers and administration are critical.
You may know the story of the elementary teacher who went to the school office to check on the new students the day before school opened. Next to each child's name was the child's IQ. As she looked, she was stunned. The numbers ranged from 125 to over 150. It was the finest class she had ever had. So, all through the year she tried to do justice to these bright children by organizing enrichment programs, in-depth studies, speakers, trips and more. The children responded by making tremendous strides in all their subjects. It was only near the end of the school year that she learned that the numbers she had seen were not their IQ's but their locker numbers!
We will encourage every student to the utmost of their ability, for after all, whether a child needs more time or less, more care or less, to fully comprehend the subject material, in the end he or she has gained the same knowledge that all of their friends have. The determining factor here is the investment of the teacher.
We look forward to a year of working together with you to educate our children, sharing with them and with you our deep love and respect for Judaism.
In order to successfully implement our goals, a home-school partnership is imperative and to achieve our noble aims we earnestly seek genuine co-operation and active participation. The old saying, that children learn what they live, is particularly true with regard to Jewish education.
The few hours that we have your children in our school can only give them an outline of their Jewish Heritage - the rest is up to you.
Sincerely,
The Talmud Torah Staff
